Apple TV’s holiday special, A Carpool Karaoke Christmas, is bringing festive cheer this season with performances from top artists like Dua Lipa, Chappell Roan, and Lady Gaga. For the first time ever, the beloved segment has been turned into a full-length Christmas special, with each artist getting their own segment, driving through different cities with host Zane Lowe.

Chappell Roan’s Emotional “Carpool” with Her Parents in Missouri

The episode kicks off with Good Luck Babe singer Chappell Roan, also known as the “Midwestern Princess,” taking Zane Lowe on a nostalgic ride through her hometown in Missouri. Roan’s parents, Kara and Dwight, join the duo in the backseat, making the moment extra special.

During a moving rendition of Roan’s song “Pink Pony Club,” which features heartfelt lyrics about her mother, both parents share their deep emotions. Her mom, Kara, reflects on the importance of parental approval, while her dad, Dwight, expresses pride and admiration for his daughter, tearing up as he talks about how she’s taught him to love and respect everyone.

Kara: “Even when we’re grown up, we really care what our parents think about us, and I hope she knows we love her and are proud of her.”
Dwight: “What she stands for gives us a lot of hope.”

The segment continues with a stop at Roan’s favorite childhood hangout, Andy’s Frozen Custard, and a visit to the theater where she launched her album. Between belting out Christmas classics like “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and Justin Bieber’s “Drummer Boy,” Roan opens up about growing up in a religious family and the sense of freedom she found when she moved to Los Angeles.

Roan reflects on her journey, saying she’s grateful for her roots but equally thankful for the opportunities that allowed her to grow.

Dua Lipa’s Carpool Karaoke segment takes fans to Tokyo, where Lowe chauffeurs her to a concert. As the Levitating star belts out her hits, including New Rules and Houdini, she talks about her approach to life. Lipa explains that embracing new experiences and healthy relationships is key, especially after enduring bad ones.

“Music really has the power to help people through tough times,” Lipa says, reflecting on how her breakup anthems resonate with fans, particularly women who tell her her songs helped them heal from their own heartbreaks.

Lady Gaga’s Festive Fun with a Cameo and Outfit Change

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga brings the holiday cheer back to the U.S., driving through Los Angeles with Zane Lowe as they jam to Christmas classics. One of the highlights is Christmas Tree, a quirky holiday song Gaga released in 2008, full of fun and some cheeky lyrics that had the pair laughing.

Midway through her segment, AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson makes a surprise cameo, adding another layer of fun to the episode. True to her style, Gaga also switches up her look, donning an orange wig inspired by her collaboration with Bruno Mars on Die With a Smile.

The special wraps up with a special performance of Santa Claus is Coming to Town in a grunge-rock style, which is now available on all streaming platforms.

Zane Lowe Reflects on the Fun-Filled Special

Zane Lowe shares his gratitude for being part of the fun-filled episode, stating, “This was hands-down the most fun I’ve ever had in a car. I’m grateful to James for trusting me behind the wheel with three of music’s most exciting artists. It’s an honor to bring A Carpool Karaoke Christmas to fans worldwide.”

The special is streaming now on Apple TV, bringing holiday spirit and music magic to audiences everywhere.
