Dodge Charger Hemi V-8 Is Reportedly Coming Back in 2026

Dodge Charger Hemi V-8

Fans of Dodge, rejoice! The legendary Hemi V-8 may soon make a comeback in the Dodge Charger lineup. Mopar Insiders claims that Dodge is working to bring the potent engine back to life, with production expected to begin in late 2026. Customers will therefore be able to enjoy the sound of a V-8 engine under the charger’s hood once more.

A Multi-Energy Lineup

The return of the Hemi V-8 won’t mean the end of Dodge’s electric ambitions. The Charger lineup is already diversifying with EV options and the newly introduced twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, called the Sixpack.Currently available are the two-door Charger Daytona R/T and Charger Daytona Scat Pack, which have 456 and 670 horsepower, respectively.

Additionally, in the summer of 2025, gas-powered versions such as the 420-horsepower Sixpack S.O. and the 550-horsepower Dodge Charger Sixpack H.O. will be available at dealerships.

The Hemi V-8’s Return

While Dodge has not confirmed which specific Hemi V-8 engines will be available, reports suggest the 5.7-liter, 6.4-liter, and even the supercharged 6.2-liter might make a comeback. If the rumors are true, this could also signal the return of the Hellcat.

Production Plans

Stellantis reportedly plans to restart Hemi V-8 production at its Dundee, Michigan facility this August. Dodge engineers are already working on incorporating the V-8 into the new Charger design.

Although Dodge has remained tight-lipped on further details, a spokesperson recently said, “Multi-energy options have always been a part of the plan.”

What’s Next?

With the Hemi V-8’s return and a variety of powertrain options, Dodge is ensuring the Charger continues to lead the muscle car scene. Expect more updates as the brand solidifies its future lineup.
