Mark Kelly, Elon Musk Feud Erupts After Senator’s Pro-Ukraine Remarks.

Kelly, a former Navy combat pilot, posted about his visit, stating that the U.S. must remain committed to Ukraine’s defense and that any peace deal “can’t be a giveaway” to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also criticized Donald Trump for allegedly trying to weaken Ukraine’s position.

Musk, responding on X (formerly Twitter), wrote: “You are a traitor.”

Kelly quickly fired back:

“Traitor? Elon, if you don’t understand that defending freedom is a basic tenet of what makes America great and keeps us safe, maybe you should leave it to those of us who do.”

Kelly Slams Musk for Federal Cuts

The Trump administration recently paused military aid to Ukraine, following a heated February 28 meeting where Trump and Vice President JD Vance scolded Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy over his lack of gratitude for U.S. support.

Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill, Kelly doubled down on his criticism of Musk, accusing him of gutting the federal government for tax breaks.

“He’s slashed and burned the federal government to make room for a giant tax cut for billionaires like himself. I’ve sworn an oath to this country, I’ve flown in combat, I served in the Navy for 25 years. It appears to me the oath that Elon Musk stands by is the oath to billionaires, not the American people.”

He then took another jab:

“He’s not a serious guy. He should go back to building rockets.”

Musk’s Controversial Ukraine Stance

Musk has faced criticism over his past actions regarding Ukraine. In 2023, he blocked a Ukrainian attack on Russia’s navy, and in 2022, he suggested Ukraine cede Crimea to Russia in a peace deal.

While Kelly’s visit reaffirmed his stance on supporting Ukraine, Musk and the Trump administration have pushed for deep spending cuts, including reducing U.S. military aid.

What’s Next?

With Secretary of State Marco Rubio heading to Saudi Arabia for talks with Zelenskyy, tensions over Ukraine’s future are high. The ongoing debate between pro- and anti-aid factions within the U.S. government is far from over.
