9-1-1: Lone Star* has concluded its plot with an engrossing series finale following five exciting seasons. As the 126 Firehouse coped with the fallout from a devastating asteroid strike on Austin, the episode offered both heartbreak and optimism. Here are the main events of the series finale as well as what became of the adored characters Owen and Tommy.

The Asteroid’s Effect

The 126 Firehouse is in the middle of an asteroid warning as the final episode begins. When a citywide alarm sounded at the end of the previous episode, the firefighters fled for cover. Viewers are transported to the mayhem that occurs an hour prior to the crash in the finale.

Dr. Chalmers, the head of Travis State University’s Nuclear Department, tries to shut down a nuclear reactor in time. However, he slips and injures himself before he can trigger the emergency shutdown. As the asteroid nears, the 126 are called to the university for help.

Tommy’s Giving Up

Gina Torres’ character, Captain Tommy Vega, has been coping with a fatal cancer diagnosis. She is committed to helping the city despite her personal hardships. She performs an emergency craniotomy to relieve pressure on Dr. Chalmers’ brain during the crisis, saving his life. But after pushing her body to its breaking point, Tommy passes out from exhaustion.

The Detonating Repercussions

In an attempt to stop more catastrophe, the 126 heads for the control room, but a cooling tank malfunctions, causing a catastrophic explosion. All five firefighters are hurt as the firehouse is shaken. Mateo’s neck injury and other injuries put the squad in a precarious position. They are pushed to their limits, but they can rally.

The Destiny of Owen

The TK and Carlos have adopted Jonah, TK’s younger brother. TK has quit the 126 to stay home and care for his new family. Mateo faces a deportation hearing but defends his place in the country with heartfelt words about his commitment to the U.S. Furthermore, he respects Captain Owen.

Tommy’s Recovery

Tommy finds out unexpectedly that her cancer has gone into remission. She now gets a second chance at life because the tumor that was pressing against her heart has vanished. After going through so much, the character feels relieved at this point.
